How To Decorate your Rental for Winter

By December 6, 2021 No Comments

The most wonderful time of the year is approaching, the holiday season! From here on out we will have Christmas music blasting all day and see trees and lights going up! Here are some easy and affordable ways to decorate your home or rental to get into the holiday mood!

Lights

Whether you prefer colorful lights or white bulbs, lights really light up a space!
They have endless possibilities and can transform a space very easily. Whether you hang them on the outside of your house, put them around windows, or decorate the inside of your home with them, you can’t deny that they add some magic.

Adding lights to your tree is pretty usual – and you can spice it up by using different sizes and types of lights.
Be creative with your lights – add some to your mantel, shelves, or put them around the tv. It doesn’t take a lot of time or work and it will make the space cozier and brighter.

Christmas Tree

One of the best parts of the season is getting the tree, setting it up, and decorating it. It’s the signature of the season. Check out these fun ways to decorate your tree.
When buying or picking out a tree it’s important to take the height of your ceiling and the space you’ll put the tree in into consideration. You want to make sure it won’t be too close to anything that may cause an issue.

Are you team real tree or fake tree? Real trees smell wonderful and have a certain joy to them but their postseason cleanup may be annoying to deal with. They can be highly flammable, so be careful where you place it in your space. If you opt for a fake tree, adding some cinnamon to the area will help give you the lovely smells. As a plus, it is easier to maintain and you can reuse it year after year.
Always check with your landlord for the rules they have about trees. Some landlords may not allow a real Christmas tree, or they may have other holiday regulations.

Candles

Winter time has the best smells. Whether it’s cinnamon, pine, gingerbread, sugar cookies, or firewood, you’ll want to experience a holiday smell drifting through your home. Candles and scented decor are a great way to decorate your home with your senses in mind.
If you want to opt for a flame-free option, try grouping cinnamon sticks or pinecones in a statement bowl on a coffee table, in the kitchen or bathroom.
Candles can be dangerous so be careful and always blow them out if you leave the area.

Pillows

When it’s cold out there’s nothing better than snuggling up under blankets and watching a movie. Throw in some hot chocolate and you’ll have a perfect night.
When hosting people you want to create a warm and cozy atmosphere that encourages people to relax, feel welcome and get into the holiday spirit. Incorporating some Christmas themed pillows or thick throw blankets is a great option.
Pillows are a great way to express yourself and make your home feel in the holiday time. If you had orange ones for fall, switch them out for some red and green plaid or a warm chunky blanket that you can curl up to. Deep reds, greens, creams, and other winter colors are staples, and throwing in some other colors and patterns can help create a warm and welcoming look.

Wreaths

Wreaths are fun to make or buy! They are an easy way to spice up your front door or inside your home. Check out these diy wreath ideas.
If you want to decorate the front of your home with a DIY wreath, try adding little Christmas trees, poinsettia flowers or lights. You could add a little sign, sled, or anything you’d like. DIY wreaths are a great way to show off your unique creativity!
You don’t need a lot of outdoor space to spread joy to those who walk or drive past your place.

Holiday Spirit

We know that the holidays can be expensive and stressful. If you want to get into the holiday spirit but aren’t much of a decorator or are trying to save money, putting on some Christmas music will do the trick! Bringing in the sounds of the season can make your space more inviting and make it feel as if you are in a winter wonderland.
The holidays are all a part of giving and being thankful for what we have – so take a breath and simply enjoy the holidays this year. Get creative with your decorations and know less is more!
